Organized by the Council of Canary Islands Pharmaceutical Colleges (COFCAN), the event is being held from today until Saturday in Lanzarote, with the participation of nearly 200 pharmacists from all autonomous communities, under the slogan \u201cFor a global pharmacy with greater healthcare capacity.\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The president of COFCAN, Loreto G\u00f3mez, pointed out that \u201cpharmacists can be the answer to many problems of the National Health System and also part of the solution,\u201d while the vice president, Manuel \u00c1ngel Galv\u00e1n, highlighted the collective's ability to \u201ctake a step forward in the face of adversity.\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-107053 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coflaspalmas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Q6A6120-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"451\" height=\"300\" \/>\u201cThe community pharmacy,\u201d said Loreto G\u00f3mez, \u201cis an essential resource for Spanish healthcare, as it already is for the healthcare systems of many countries around the world,\u201d and she highlighted the potential that the pharmacy network has to respond to socio-health needs.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">For his part, the Director General of Public Health of the Canary Islands Health Service, Jos\u00e9 D\u00edaz Flores, who opened and closed these conferences, highlighted the increasingly important role that pharmacists are adopting in the transformation of the health system towards a more humanized model with higher quality of care.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cPharmacists, as accessible and well-trained professionals, are key to promoting healthy habits in the entire population,\u201d and in this regard, he highlighted several projects that the Ministry of Health is working on in collaboration with professional associations in the Canary Islands, especially those related to vaccination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Trusted intermediaries<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cThe more than 3,500 registered pharmacists in the Canary Islands not only know our patients\u201d treatments but also their fears and doubts. Therefore, they are privileged intermediaries for fostering confidence in vaccines and their importance in protecting individual and collective health,\" he stressed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The president of the General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges, Jes\u00fas Aguilar, highlighted the joint work of the Official Colleges of Pharmacists of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the Administration to promote the implementation of interoperable electronic prescriptions, the Communication Project between Pharmacies and Health Centers, or smoking cessation programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-107054 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coflaspalmas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Q6A6216-Mejorado-NR-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"452\" height=\"301\" \/>These achievements, he pointed out, gain \u00abeven more value\u00bb if we consider the environment in which they are developed, with \u00abunique particularities\u00bb such as insularity, geographical dispersion, and population diversity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u00abLet's continue building, from the Canary Islands, a more global, more caring, and more human Pharmacy that accompanies, listens to, and transforms the health of our society,\u00bb the president of the General Council emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">During his speech, Manuel \u00c1ngel Galv\u00e1n compared Pharmacy professionals to Lanzarote -
