Ana Benito, Hospital Representative for the College, provides information on “Pharmacotherapy Update Sessions

What are your goals? The goal is training, as it is a specialty that covers many other fields, making it very difficult to stay updated. Any opportunity for training is good. We have scheduled “modules” on diabetes, COPD, and asthma; anticoagulation, and hypertension. We have tried to select the most prevalent pathologies and provide a quick and enjoyable update.

What is the profile of the speakers? For all formative pills, which last around two hours with practical cases, the specialists are related to pharmacists, they are hospital and community pharmacists and doctors.

Do the Sessions have accreditation? Yes, accreditation has been requested from the Canary Islands Continuing Education Commission.

What do you need to do to get accredited? All sessions must be attended.

What do these sessions bring to the community pharmacist? It's an update of knowledge that is necessary for our day-to-day lives. In our profession, we have to continuously update our knowledge, and they are an opportunity to come into contact with different specialists related to the patient from different care levels.

Why has this “training pills” format been chosen? They are very practical and condensed courses. The goal is to review and update knowledge on specific therapeutic groups for highly prevalent pathologies in two hours.
