Las Palmas de G.C. – 03/17/2026. Three pharmaceutical professionals address three clinical cases and highlight the importance of continuous training. The Official College of Pharmacists of Las Palmas and SEFAC offered healthcare professionals a workshop dedicated to addressing real clinical cases, where three pharmacists shared practical experiences focused on improving patient care.
The session was opened by Mónica Hathiramani, who presented a case of benzodiazepine deprescription. In her presentation, she detailed the process by which a patient's diazepam treatment was successfully withdrawn, highlighting the importance of individualized follow-up and pharmaceutical intervention.
Elena Angulo, for her part, addressed the treatment of chronic pain. During her presentation, she explained how the therapy of a 40-year-old patient was successfully modified by substituting oxycodone with a more suitable alternative, with the goal of improving her quality of life and reducing associated risks.
Finally, Silvia Afonso focused her presentation on the management of arterial hypertension. In this case, she presented the adaptation of pharmacological treatment in a patient with poor disease control, managing to optimize her medication to achieve better clinical results.
The day highlighted the value of specialized and continuous training offered by SEFAC, allowing pharmaceutical professionals to develop higher quality care services and actively contribute to patient care from community pharmacies.
