ONLINE TRAINING SESSION. Pharmacogenetics: Listening to Our Genes to Optimize Drug Use

The next day April 24th at 2:30 PM (Canary Islands time), the General Council of Official Colleges of Pharmacists with the collaboration of the Spanish Society of Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics (SEFF) and the National Sections of Clinical Analysts Pharmacists, Hospital Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Office, will hold the training session online titled «Pharmacogenetics: Listen to our genes to optimize the use of drugs» addressed to all interested pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.

 

 

OBJECTIVE

 

Address general and specific concepts of interindividual variability in drug response and its significance in clinical practice, illustrating with examples the relevance of pharmacogenetics in the hospital setting and, specifically, in Community Pharmacy.

Presenter:

 

• Carlos Fernández Moriano. Head of the Scientific Outreach Area. General Council of Official Colleges of Pharmacists.

 

Speaker 1:

 

•María Luisa Bernal Ruiz. Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology. Faculty of Medicine, University of Zaragoza. Spanish Society of Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics (SEFF).

– General Concepts: Genotype and phenotype, biomarker, genetic polymorphism, personalized medicine.

– Information sources, evidence, and recommendations with examples.

– Experiences in Autonomous Communities.

 

Speaker 2:

 

• María Isidoro García. Head of Clinical Analysis / Clinical Biochemistry Service. University Clinical Hospital of Salamanca.

– Inclusion in the Common Portfolio of Services of the National Health System.

– Interpretation of pharmacogenetic reports (utility perspective for pharmacists).

 

Speaker 3:

 

• Xandra García-González. Pharmacist specializing in hospital pharmacy. Gregorio Marañón University Hospital.

– Practical applications of pharmacogenetics at the hospital level: the example of oncological treatments and transplants.

 

Speaker 4:

 

• Mª Jesús Rodríguez Arcas. Community Pharmacist. Secretary General of the COF Region of Murcia.

Practical application of pharmacogenetics in community pharmacy.
