The Pharmacist's Role in Alzheimer's Prevention


The next November 26, of 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the conference will be held at the Collegiate Headquarters The pharmacist's role in Alzheimer's prevention. This conference will be given by the Dr. Don José Regidor García, Professor of Cell Biology, specializing in Alzheimer's, aging, and age-related disorders. He is also President of the Alzheimer's Association of the Canary Islands, former Rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Emeritus Professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and a member of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology.

 

OBJECTIVES

 

To deepen the knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and analyze risk factors for early diagnosis. Furthermore, it aims to raise awareness about the importance of care for family members, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, especially highlighting the pharmacist's role in detecting and addressing this disease.

 

PROGRAM

 

    1. General Information on Alzheimer's Disease, including Prevalence and Mortality
    2. An Overview of Alzheimer's Disease
    3. Risk Factors According to The Lancet Commission
    4. Addressing the challenge of early diagnosis and its types
    5. Pharmacological treatments
    6. Non-pharmacological treatments and their types
    7. Attention to family members, caregivers, and/or professionals
    8. The negative weight of ageism in prevention
    9. The value of the pharmacist in disease detection

 


 

At the end of the session, a coffee break so that attendees and speakers can converse and share their impressions on the topic discussed.

 

Moreover, the conference will be recorded so that those who cannot attend on the day of the event can watch it later on the Virtual Campus Tabaiba of COF Las Palmas, in space «And if you couldn't attend...».

 

REGISTRATION

 

The registration deadline is November 24, 2024.

The capacity will be limited to 40 attendees, so it is essential to reserve a spot.

Price€10 (incl. IGIC).

 

This activity is accredited by the Canary Commission for Continuing Training of Health Professions, it being necessary to attend the total of the individual session and a minimum of two annual sessions to obtain accreditation.

 

  • Due to limited space, cancellations must be communicated in writing to the email desarrollopro@coflaspalmas.es with at least 5 days' notice before the start of the course to be eligible for a refund.
  • The scheduled training courses have a minimum and maximum number of places. If the planned minimum is not reached, the College reserves the right to suspend them.
