Canarian pharmacists present their health improvement projects to the new director of the SCS

August 6, 2025

Canary Islands pharmacists were among the first groups to be received by the new director of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), Adasat Goya. The president and the treasurer of the official associations of pharmacists of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, respectively, Loreto Gómez and Carlos Días, presented at the meeting several projects that would aim to improve the health conditions of the population, facilitate access to health from different aspects and decongest primary care services. «Pharmacists not only have a commitment to health in any of the modalities since we exercise the profession, our proximity to the citizen and the presence of a pharmacist professional throughout the territory allows us to be health allies for the Administration. That is what we wanted to raise in today's meeting, going over the different projects and programs that we propose to implement and improve the quality of healthcare,» explained Loreto Gómez.

Adasat Goya, for his part, showed himself receptive to the initiatives presented, he highlighted the work that Canary Islands pharmacists carry out, and he committed to maintaining close contact to work and explore the possibilities of undertaking the different projects presented.

For his part, Carlos Díaz highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen collaboration with the SCS in order to improve the care provided to the population, whether from pharmacies, as the first health point close to the population, or from Health Centers or Hospitals.
